Charlottesville: Who are the real fascists?

In the aftermath of the Charlottesville protests, there has been a lot of criticism of Donald Trump and Republicans in general.  What happened was that there was a white nationalist group who showed up to protest the removal of Confederate statues.

As despicable as their ideas are, they have the right to protest them.  Afterward, “anti-fascist” groups showed up with weapons and violence ensued.  And by the way, no one is asking the obvious question: Where were the police?  They stood there and did nothing, allegedly ordered by local officials to stand down.

Anti-fa is a far-left group of violent thugs of the Progressive movement.  Enabled for many years by Democrat politicians who refused to challenge them out of political correctness, they are now starting to wreak havoc on our nation.  They claim to be “anti-fascist” and peace activists – they are anything but.  Showing up at rallies wearing masks, dressing in all-black, armed with baseball bats, mace, throwing bottles of urine at police officers?  These ARE the fascists, these are the same tactics as the brown-shirts in Nazi Germany.  They are the group mainly responsible for the violent riots in Berkeley, CA to prevent Milo Yiannopoulos’s speech.  They are fascists because they are trying to control what other people are able to speak and hear, and try to exert that control through violent force.  Their attitude goes something like this: “The United States is a racist country and we demand that its history be erased and any statues be torn down.  If you don’t agree with us, then you’re a fascist and then we’re justified then in beating you over the head with a stick.”  And the politicians keep appeasing them.  The Democrats have enabled them for so long and we’ve become so steeped in political correctness, that this type of pure rage is being allowed to run unchecked.

The American Heritage Dictionary defines fascism as “A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, stringent socioeconomic controls, suppression of the opposition through terror and censorship, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism.”  Author Dinesh D’Souza has a similar definition, as (paraphrasing) a doctrine of total control by a powerful central state.  Either definition seems to apply much better to Bernie Sanders and the Progressive movement.  This is because they favor government control (Obamacare, education system) over individual choice (free-market).  It’s about central control.  Donald Trump is not trying to exert central control.  He wants private control of health care and to take education back to the states and let local officials and parents decide how to educate children.

I want to quote a passage from D’Souza’s recent book, “The Big Lie” regarding Nazi Germany, see if this rings any bells

In 1925 the Jewish philosopher Theodor Lessing spoke out against the repressive political climate of Weimar Germany. Although Lessing’s explicit target was the cravenness of the Weimar regime of Paul von Hindenburg, his real target was the emerging power of Nazism, and he faulted the government for yielding to it. The Nazis immediately recognized the threat posed by Lessing. Hitler youth at Lessing’s University of Hanover formed a “committee against Lessing.” They encouraged students to boycott his lectures. Nazi youth then showed up and disrupted Lessing’s classes. Lessing was forced to give up his academic chair the following year. In his account of what happened, Lessing acknowledged he could do nothing to prevent being “shouted down, threatened and denigrated” by student activists. *

Does this sound familiar?  It should.  We are seeing these exact same tactics by groups like “Antifa” who pretend to be fighting fascism in our government, but it’s them who are the fascists, and our politicians are too scared to do anything to bring them to justice.  They are a far-left anti-American anarchist group bringing down the United States of America as we know it.  And we have cities actually capitulating to them and taking down historical monuments for fear of their wrath.

  • A group tore down a statue in North Carolina that they were offended by. Now of course cities have to remove statues right and left out of political correctness.
  • ESPN pulled an (Asian-American) announcer named “Robert Lee” from calling a University of Virginia football game over concerns that his name might create a “distraction.”
  • A student group at University of Southern California (USC) is complaining that their mascot’s horse “Traveler” is racist because it bears a similar name to a horse sometimes rode by Robert E. Lee
  • The ACLU apologized for the “crime” of putting a white child with a flag on one of its tweets.
  • New York Mayor Bill DiBlasio said he’d “consider” removing Grant’s Tomb.
  • Streets, highways, and other infrastructure with Confederate names are being removed.

Now they’re going to go after our culture.  They have no idea of our history and the meaning of our Constitution.  They want to tear down confederate statues, but remain silent about the half of WV that is named after former Democrat Senator (and actual KKK leader) Robert Byrd.  A man, who incidentally was referred to by Hillary Clinton as “the conscience of the Senate.” Today it’s Confederate statues, tomorrow it will be the Founding Fathers, and soon our Constitution itself will be under attack.  They will not be satisfied until our nation has degraded into anarchy.  Anyone who thinks that these are anti-fascist peace activists is out of their mind.

Socialists now control most of the news media, Hollywood, Silicon Valley, and our educational system.  Schools don’t teach anymore, they indoctrinate.  They are teaching kindergartners about transgenderism and sex education.  Students are being told that America is a bad place, that we’re a racist people, that we need to reject nationalism to become “global citizens.”  We have let political correctness dominate our culture.  Now we have groups with the mentality that anything they don’t like can be declared racist, and that they can hold public policy and safety hostage because adults who supposed to know better are too afraid of being labeled to do anything about it.  The Democrats have lost control over their own followers.  After enabling this behavior for years, they have lost control.  Even if the Democrat party tried to moderate its views, I don’t even think these groups that they’ve empowered would even let them. This is pure hate and rage that’s being allowed to run unchecked to the point where even Democrat politicians are afraid of upsetting them.  Republican politicians, meanwhile, abandon their conservative principles because they’re afraid of being labeled; since Republicans have done such a poor job in messaging and the leftists have their domination of the media, Hollywood, and academics, they are too emasculated to fight back.

As I said earlier, fascism and Nazism are actually left-wing ideologies.   Nazism got the inspiration for most of its Nuremberg laws directly from the American south, from slavery and the postbellum subjugation of blacks to second-class citizenship.  The question came up among the early Nazi leaders of how to define a “Jew.”  They looked to the South’s Jim Crow laws for guidance. Keep in mind that slavery, the KKK, the Jim Crow laws, the Black Codes, the opposition to the 13th-15th Amendments and opposition to the Civil Rights acts of the 1950s-1960s was almost entirely Democrat. In the South at that time, a person could be considered “black” if they had ANY black ancestry, the so-called “one drop of blood” rule.  But even the most extreme Nazis thought that was too strict, and relegated the definition of “Jew” to having three Jewish grandparents.  In short, Democratic southern racism was too extreme even for the Nazis!  For anyone truly interested in finding the truth, I strongly recommend Dinesh D’Souza’s recently published book “The Big Lie.”

Tech giants like Google and Facebook, who control much of the social narrative, are censoring conservative thought and labeling speech that doesn’t conform to their leftist narrative as “hate speech.”

James Demore, a former Google software engineer, was fired by Google for daring to call for discussion of the company’s affirmative action policies.  Youtube and Twitter are blocking users, arbitrarily shutting down the accounts of conservatives suddenly and without explanation, demonetizing videos on right-leaning channels, and in other ways censoring speech of politics that they disagree with and that goes counter to the “allowed opinions” of the left.

EDIT: I had to include this quote about Antifa from Peter Beinart’s article in “The Atlantic”: “Antifa activists are sincere. They genuinely believe that their actions protect vulnerable people from harm. Cornel West claims they did so in Charlottesville. But for all of Antifa’s supposed anti-authoritarianism, there’s something fundamentally authoritarian about its claim that its activists—who no one elected—can decide whose views are too odious to be publicly expressed. That kind of undemocratic, illegitimate power corrupts.
